To ensure that the room functions optimally for modern conferences and meetings, we have designed a solution that allows users to focus on the content of the meeting - and not on the technology.

Whether the room is used for physical events or hybrid events with participants on video, the flow for attendees is very good. As a presenter, you only need to press start on the panel at the lectern. The camera automatically follows you, and the intelligent microphones in the ceiling ensure a very pleasant sound both for participants in the room and those outside on video. 

When questions are asked from the audience, all sound is picked up and sent out to other parts of the room and externally, while the camera automatically shows those who are active in the conversation.

Here, there is no need to manage microphones, cameras, or other settings. Just enter the room, connect to a PC for what you want to present, and press start. The solution takes care of the rest of the production. It really can't get any easier! 

Solution

Oslo Stock Exchange's auditorium is on the list of Oslo's city conservator, which means there is little room for changes and interventions. It was therefore necessary to design a solution where existing points for fastening could be reused and where the need for new cabling was minimal.

In this auditorium, we have used network cabling for absolutely all components. Even the speakers, which are active and receive power from a switch placed outside the room.

For a good image for participants in the room, we replaced an old projector with a new laser projector, which also supports the new format 21:9 and is thus well secured for future development.

Microsoft Teams and Camera
Oslo Stock Exchange uses Microsoft Teams as the standard platform for video meetings. Therefore, we based the solution on an MTR system but scaled the camera and sound to the room.

In practice, this means we have installed two cameras, one aimed at the stage and the other at the audience. And both have power and signal over network cable from the switch.

The camera facing the stage automatically captures when someone goes up on the stage and follows the person within a defined area.

The camera facing the audience will automatically show a predefined view of the audience when questions are asked, based on data from the microphones about where in the audience the person is sitting.

The user does not need to manage the camera operation but can override the layout of what is being sent out and displayed in the room if desired.

Sound
We have put a lot of energy into delivering the best sound solution. With the limitations from the city conservator, the result was to mount three Shure microphones on wires from the ceiling, which cover the entire room impressively well and are sufficient to send very good sound to participants on video.

For meetings with long presentations and panel debates, the room is also equipped with two additional wireless microphones. These are closer than the ceiling microphones and provide even better sound with more depth.

The solution also uses "voicelift," which means that the sound from the microphone at the front of the room is sent out to the speakers at the back of the room, so the speaker's voice is clear and distinct for everyone. We have installed a "Mute" button at the lectern that makes it easy to turn off all microphones.

The speakers are, as mentioned, very compact quality speakers from Genelec, which receive power and signal from a switch over standard network cable.

Focus on Meeting Content Rather than Technology

In summary, Oslo Stock Exchange has received an upgrade in the auditorium that makes it incredibly easy to hold presentations, hybrid meetings, seminars, and all types of events without the need for technical expertise. The entire solution is "transparent" in the sense that the user only connects their own laptop for the presentation and presses "Join" if it is a Teams meeting. The rest of the job is handled by the solution from 3C.
